Leisure Connection

Chris: We provide a number of different, um, formal and informal training opportunities within, um, sites like uh, Wyboston here, and also through other sites throughout Leisure Connection. So, for example, lifeguards will receive National Pool Lifeguard qualifications, first aid qualifications, and also we provide lots of apprenticeships and advanced apprenticeships for different people within the company.

Hannah: I’ve had training through Lifetime which has redeveloped my Level 2 NVQ and Level 3 NVQ in fitness training. Doing it through work has allowed me as well to get experience with it, rather than kind of sitting in a classroom environment and not actually physically doing it. You know, I’m surrounded by members all the time so it’s developed my customer service skills as well.

Chris: In signing up to the Skills Pledge and through the introduction of Train to Gain, we thought it would bring validity to our training that we already provide. The second thing is that we wanted to reach a wider range of existing members of staff who are working within our programmes who don’t have qualifications. Train to Gain and the Skills Pledge enables us to reach those people.

And the second thing is that new people coming into the business are then able to acquire those skills through formal recognised qualifications.
