HGV Lorry driver
Rachael: I split up with my partner in September and I had to go to Jobcentre to claim single parent benefit, and I met Donna. I was talking to Donna about doing some sort of course, I said HGV, and she said, “Ah,” you know, “We did used to do that.”
Donna: Rachael’s biggest problem was having the confidence to go forth and take up the training as a HGV driver, because she didn’t think she’d be able to do it.
Rachael: When I found out that I could get this uh, free training and get onto the course I was elated. Donna found the course where I didn’t have to have childcare. When Sophia goes to school I go to college.
Donna: It’s quite overwhelming actually, the difference it’s made.
Rachael: I don’t think I’d have been able to do it without Donna’s support. I really don’t.
