Duncan Ferguson: I started looking for work, that was last August. It was almost like an ignorance in a way. I would apply for jobs and, um, I would go for interviews, and whenever I would say I’m registered partially sighted it’d be like a kind of shock. It kind of knocks your self-confidence in a way because when you keep getting knock-backs you start to think it’s something you’re doing wrong. When I got the job in here I was just thrilled because it just kind of proved it’s not really me, it’s them with the problem.
I’m a telesales representative and it’s basically I’ll call people, um, I work off screen with ZoomText software that brings it up so I can read it, and it just makes working quite simple really.

Sandra Murphy: Duncan is, is, is very self-motivated which is, is the key to his success. I think he’s more confident, certainly from the, the young boy that walked in through the doors, um, to begin with. He’s bright, he’s sociable, um, he’s, he’s just really enjoying the job here.

Duncan Ferguson: Obviously I’m feeling a lot happier. I’m quite proud. I can start saving to buy like a house and plan for the future, and I’ve got a kind of direction.
