Gemma Hughes: I was at TK Maxx on maternity leave and it was too much work for me with just having a new son. I thought, because I’ve worked in a fish and chip shop before and that was a bit of a bad experience, and I thought a café might be different, interacting with people. I thought by coming here, getting experience from people who might know more than me, that could lead into business opportunities for myself.
We went to the local school and we interacted, met all the people who was going to work here, and learnt and passed our certificates as well. That’s given me uh, more skills to be coming to restaurants and stuff.
